It was built in 1989 with motor and mechanical parts of Kiha 58 and Kiha 65. This is a luxury Limited Express train used as a touristic train (Limited Express Yufuin No Mori) from Hakata to Yufuin through Yufuin forest.
The interior are very confortable with wooden floor, digital music background, panoramic view.
In 2003 the motor were upgraded and the max speed increased from 95 km/h to 120 km/h.
